Editorial Policy

Defiant Shirts is a graphic-tee design and shirt-culture publication for designers, apparel creators, illustrators, streetwear fans, and anyone developing shirt graphics. Our central question is simple: why does a graphic work on a shirt rather than merely on a screen? We explain the visual choices that make shirt art feel intentional instead of looking like a logo dropped on fabric.

What We Cover

Our coverage focuses on graphic design, typography, placement and scale, style and aesthetics, color, and composition. We prioritize practical decisions: how large a graphic should feel, how garment color changes a composition, why a type treatment suits a visual era, or how production limits can reshape the final design.

Sources and Attribution

We match sources to the claim. Current apparel and design references inform contemporary guidance, while credible design history provides context for movements, typography, and visual conventions. When dimensions matter, we use relevant garment measurements. Production claims should come from current manufacturer information, technical documentation, or documented examples of real constraints.

We attribute specific facts when the source identity helps readers assess them. Time-sensitive details—including specifications, prices, product options, and policies—should be checked against current first-party information. Secondary and community sources can add context, practical edge cases, or a view of broader sentiment, but they do not automatically establish fact.

Opinion, Research, and Experience

Graphic design is not a universal-rule business. Recommendations about hierarchy, contrast, balance, scale, and visual character are editorial judgments supported by observable visual principles and explained tradeoffs. Aesthetic preference is presented as judgment, not objective law.

Research-based analysis and illustration are not described as firsthand testing. Claims about physical samples, measurements, equipment, purchases, or production results require documented firsthand experience and the conditions that make those observations meaningful.

Commercial Relationships

When a documented affiliate, sponsorship, ownership, or other commercial relationship affects a piece of content, it will be disclosed clearly on that content. Recommendations must still explain the practical design basis, intended use, and meaningful tradeoffs.

Corrections

Accuracy matters, especially when a detail could change a design or production decision. To report a possible error, email contact@defiantshirts.com with the article URL, the disputed passage, and supporting evidence. Substantiated errors should be corrected in the relevant article, with clarification when the change materially affects its conclusion.
